Overview:
We are currently seeking a skilled and reliable Handyman to join our team. The ideal candidate will be a versatile and experienced individual capable of performing a variety of maintenance and repair tasks across different facilities. The Handyman will play a crucial role in ensuring the overall functionality and appearance of our spaces.
Responsibilities:
- General Repairs:
- Conduct repairs on plumbing, electrical systems, and appliances.
- Address minor carpentry and drywall issues.
- Perform routine maintenance on doors, windows, and locks.
- Painting and Finishing:
- Prepare and paint interior and exterior surfaces.
- Perform touch-ups and finishing work to maintain a polished appearance.
- Fixture and Equipment Maintenance:
- Install, repair, and maintain fixtures, furniture, and equipment.
- Troubleshoot issues with HVAC, lighting, and other systems.
- Carpentry and Woodwork:
- Build or repair furniture, cabinets, and other wooden structures.
- Install and repair molding, trim, and baseboards.
- Groundskeeping:
- Assist with landscaping tasks, such as mowing, trimming, plowing snow and basic gardening.
- Move trailers and equipment from site to site
- Clear debris and maintain the cleanliness of outdoor spaces.
- Safety Inspections:
- Conduct regular safety inspections and address potential hazards.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards in all repair and maintenance activities.
- Supply Management:
- Monitor and manage inventory of maintenance and repair supplies.
- Coordinate with suppliers to ensure timely replenishment of materials.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of repairs and maintenance activities.
- Provide regular updates on completed tasks and upcoming projects.
Qualifications:
Proven experience as a Handyman or in a similar role.
Strong knowledge of general maintenance and repair techniques.
Proficiency in using hand and power tools.
Ability to troubleshoot and solve problems independently.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Physical fitness and stamina for manual labor tasks.
Knowledge of safety protocols and regulations.
Education and Certification:
High school diploma or equivalent. Relevant certifications in maintenance or trade skills are a plus.

About Auto Safety Center
Schmidts Safety Center started from the humble and hard work of founder Ralph Schmidt in 1965. In 1983 Roger Berth purchased the business from Ralph and renamed the shop Auto Safety Center. In 1995 Roger hired a high school senior Joe Valind and in 2005 Joe and his wife Jessica bought the business from Roger. Moving locations in 2012 to our current West Bend location and expanding to 2nd location in Cedarburg in 2022.
